- Scala does not make it clear whether the Host is in on the deal with Franceschina, we chose to say yes, and to make all the abuse he threatens her with fake for marketing reasons. Some specifics, such as the name of the Inn, were added.
- Tuscan is treated as English for our audience.
- The actor should be prepared for when Burattino is called upon to tell the noble rank of Isabella and her brother as Genovese property holders.
- In several other plays, Burattino is the Innkeeper, and Pedrolino is the loyal servant, but in this play the Innkeeper plays lots of mean tricks, which is like Pedrolino, and the faithful servant is very emotional, like Burattino.
