Additional Notes
- Except for scene 3.16 the two Capitanos are never on stage at the same time, and we provide an alternative for that scene that lets the same man play both roles (As done in Day 25 by Isabella and Fabrizio). It is important to play them as quite different (e.g. noble vs. selfish), and to make Isabella’s choice of which one to keep important.
- We believe that Isabella’s quick temper and madness can be presaged by the nervous energy of six years of abstinence.
- Because Pantalone is underutilized in this play, a smaller troupe could collapse this a little by having the same character be a wealthy Innkeeper and do all the plot points for Burattino and Pantalone; this would also change the set down to simply two houses.
- We have noted in square brackets times when the actor playing both Capitanos needs to change costume. If two actors are covering these roles, ignore these.
