Additional Notes

  • Andrews points out in his commentary that this is a play about love and resentment and gives plenty of opportunities for Isabella to give deep introspective monologues and responses. This is a good play for a dramatic actress.
  • This play has a lot of people lying. One big challenge is to make Isabella likeable and worthy of the happy ending.
  • Among the good things about this play is that it has one of the smaller casts, and easiest props list required, making it more accessible to a small troupe or class.
  • Scala lists Arlecchino in the DP but gives him no entrances. Maybe there are a lot of missing scenes in this short play.
