Additional Notes
- Cavicchio is a role for an entertainer who is inserted into the play. In fact, this whole play is looser than most, and seems to serve more as a vehicle for other entertainers (singers and dancers). Also note that Cavicchio may have been the same actor who became Brighella.
- There is a 1588 Elizabethan plot outline called Dead Man’s Fortune (perhaps by Richard Tarleton) which bears some resemblance to this play.
- The role for Flavio seems optional. In act 1, he can be replaced by Pedrolino getting more stage time, and in acts 2 & 3, he can be replaced by Spavento. This is not perfect, but Flavio has so little to do in this play, it seems worth removing him unless you have a player ramping up.
